If you plan to submit a grant proposal that involves a Foreign Component, please alert our office so that we can search for potential Export Control issues that need to be addressed.
- Does a part of the project take place outside the USA or involve shipment of materials or equipment to a foreign country?
- Does the project involve an entity (sponsor, collaborators, consultants, suppliers, etc.) outside the USA?
- Does the project involve a foreign national (including faculty, staff or students)?
Since September 11, 2001, the United States government has increased its focus on Export Controls, particularly on enforcement at universities. The U.S. government has also become much more concerned about foreign students at universities in this country learning how to use controlled equipment.
